These cars will be parked along the BMO parking lot, San Bruno Avenue, and in Burrows Pocket Park.
Imperial Garden Seafood Restaurant, a neighborhood staple since 1995, will be selling their delicious dishes on-site. They are the only Chinese banquet hall in San Franciscothat has vegan dim sum on their menu, including vegan har gow (shrimp dumpling) and shu mai (made with Impossible meat.)
LionDanceME, which competed in the World Lion Dance Championship 2023 and the only team with female competitors, will be providing the crowd with world-class performances.
There will be live music, a contest where attendees will vote for their favorite car. The Green Between, the Portola’s own secret garden, will be open for the public to explore and mingle in.
This unique fusion of Latino and Chinese culture in one special event is representative of the Portola neighborhood and San Francisco as a whole.
This year’s Dim Sum and Cars celebration has expanded to include the Burrows Pocket Park, where there will be an unveiling of a new “Dim Sum and Cars” mural by local Portola artist Arthurt Koch that honors the namesake event. There will also be an unveiling of a new “Hillary Ronen Adventure Way” sign at Burrows Pocket Park, honoring former District 9 Supervisor Hillary Ronen, who helped the PNA secure funding for the Green Between.
Attendees will be treated to a Dim Sum and Cars has been a sweet return to the neighborhood for many of the car club members; once harassed by officers decades ago for proudly displaying their cars on these very streets, Dim Sum and Cars is a beautiful and welcome reclamation of space and community.
The PNA has also created a Portola Dim Sum Guide, encouraging attendees to go on a "dim sum crawl" and try a range of dishes from various local eateries.
As part of their community outreach, CYC has put together a safety resource fair component.
"Dim Sum & Cars" is a community event designed to bring together neighbors, food lovers, and car enthusiasts in a fun and interactive environment.
